Karen Walts
February 18, 1946 – December 25, 2025
Karen Glennell Stroudavent Walts, age 79, of Waco, gained her angel wings on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at the Lakeshore Village Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.
Visitation: 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Lake Shore Funeral Home Chapel.
Karen was born in Atlanta, Georgia on February 18, 1946 to Leroy Webster and Maddie Ruth Stroudavent. She moved to Waco, Texas at age 17 to live with her Granny. Soon after, she met her future husband, Don Walts. They married on December 16, 1963. They had two sons, Donald (Peanut) Leroy Walts and Marcus Todd Walts. She also lovingly raised Tracey Handley, Jennifer Abbott, granddaughter, Courtney Broadman and grandson, Auggie Deleon.
She has a variety of employment opportunities over the years. She worked at Dr. Pepper, Levi Strauss and Rock Creek General Store as manager/waitress/cook which turned into owning it. After years of ownership, she decided to move on to L-3 Communications to where she later retired from. To occupy her time, she worked part time at MCC in the kitchen and at the Heart Of Texas Fairgrounds. When she wasn’t working, when loved spending time with her family and friends. Of course, she loved playing the lottery and playing Bingo.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Maddie Ruth and Leroy Webster; husband Don Henley Walts; son, Donald Leroy Walts; sisters, Esther, Vanessa and Cheryl.
Karen is survived by her son Marcus Walts and wife, Lorie; Tracey and Jennifer; brother, David Webster and wife Ruth; sister, Wanda; grand kids, Lance, Courtney, Savannah, Jesse and Auggie; great-grand kids, Jaxon and Warren. Also, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
The family would like to give a special Thank You to Janet, Mary, Victoria, Natasha, Amanda and staff at the Lakeshore Village Nursing Home. Also, a special thank you to the hospice nurses, Maria and Leslie. The family really does appreciate all that you did in taking care of Karen in her final days. Again, thank you!
