Final Rites for James E. Stone
James Elmer (Spot) Stone, 76, of Marlin died last Wednesday in a Marlin hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., last Thursday, at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin, with the Rev. A. A. Bratcher officiating. Burial was in Criswell Cemetery. Grandsons were pallbearers.
Mr. Stone was born January 29, 1910, in Limestone County, a son of William H. Stone and Alice Smith Stone. During his adult life, he engaged in farming and for several years he worked for the Falls County Road & Bridge Department. He was a Baptist.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Stone; a daughter, Vernell Mills of Mart; two sons, Gene Stone of Lorena and Nelson Stone of Mart; two step-daughters, Rene Hefelfinger of New Caney and Laverne Hefelfinger of Frankston; a step-son, Joe Walts Jr. of San Antonio; one brother, Kirby Stone of Del Rio; four sisters, Lillian Caddell of Sundown, Texas, Nettie Smith and Shirley Mae Stone, both of Mart and Ola Fay Walts of Bosqueville; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
