Ricky Clinton Mitchell
June 10, 1953 - January 11, 2024
Ricky C. Mitchell, age 70, of Clayton, Delaware, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 11, 2024.
Mr. Mitchell was born June 10, 1953 in Mart, Texas, the son of the late Willie C. Mitchell and Betsy Jean Walts Mitchell.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Linda L. Mitchell, and sister Cathy Jean Davis.
He is survived by his uncle Wayne & aunt Jadene Walts of Texas, brother Terry Spence Mitchell also of Texas, step-daughter Cathy (Dave) Neeld of Dover, step-son JR Hilliard of Clayton, “special” sister-in-law Barbara Melvin-Williams aka Ms. DuPont (Steve) of Smyrna, his Perdue work family, along with extended family members.
After serving in the Army, Rick came from Texas to do steel work later moving into waste management with Perdue.
When Rick wasn’t working you would either find him swinging on the porch or rocking in his chair on the deck reading his books. He was an avid book collector who also loved his Yankee Candles;he always had them burning.
A viewing will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, located at 29 S. Main Street in Smyrna. Funeral services with Pastor Keith Noel will begin at 11 a.m. Burial services with military honors will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
The family requests that everyone should come dressed in casual attire as Rick would have liked that.
