Death Claims Mrs. Criswell
MARLIN, June 26--SPL--Mrs. John C. Criswell, 84, member of a pioneer east Texas family and widow of an early Texas cattleman, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cliff A. McCoy, with whom she had lived for a number of years.

DEATH CLAIMS MRS. CRISWELL
MARLIN, June 26 - SPL - Mrs. John C. Criswell, 84 member of a pioneer east Texas family and widow of an early Texas cattleman, died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Cliff A. McCoy, with whom she had lived for a number of years.
Mrs. Criswell was born August 31, 1861 at Alto, Cherokee county, Texas, daughter of the late E. D. and Petura Watters Manning. Her mother died when she was two years of age, while her father was serving in the Confederate army. She moved to Falls county with her father in November, 1877, to the Watters farm. May 6, 1880, she was married to John C. Criswell in the New Hope Church.
Funeral services were held Wednesday in Marlin conducted by Rev. W. O. Wright, pastor of the First Baptist church. Burial was in Criswell cemetery, near Odds.
She was the mother of eight children, three of whom survive. They are Turner Criswell of Marlin, Mrs. John Erskine of near Criswell and Mrs. C. A. McCoy of Marlin. She is survived by seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. JOHN CRISWELL
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at the Adams Funeral Home for Mrs. John C. Criswell, 84, who passed away Tuesday morning at the home of her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff McCoy, 100 Foster street.
Mrs. Criswell, who has lived in Marlin since 1921, was a member of a pioneer East Texas family and a widow of an early Texas cattleman, the late John C. Criswell. She was born August 31, 1861, at Alto Texas and was the daughter of E. D. and Petura Watters Manning.
Services were conducted by Rev. W. O. Wright, pastor of the First Baptist Church. She was buried at the side of her late husband in the Criswell cemetary.
She was the mother of eight children, three of whom survive. They are Turner Criswell, of Marlin, Mrs. John Erskine, of near Criswell and Mrs. C. A. McCoy of Marlin.
Seven grandchildren survive her, they are: Mrs. Chester Tate, Herschell, J. C, Travis, Glenn, Ray and Tom Criswell of Marlin and one brother, C. C. Manning of Weatherford, Texas.
Pallbearers were: Grady Hair, Eddie Appleman, W. E. Hammer, Dr. Frank McKinley, John Haak, J. B. Willingham, Dr. Walter B. Allen and John Chatmas.
