Porter James Brown
August 7, 1921 - July 17, 2010
Porter James "P. J." Brown, 88, of Marlin, entered into rest Saturday, July 17, 2010. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Adams.
P. J. Brown was born August 7, 1921, in Mustang Prairie, near Kosse, to the Rev. Porter and Bessie Mae Lewis Brown. He was reared in Mustang Prairie and worked on the family farm. He married Hazel M.A. Barnes in Marlin August 15, 1939, and went on to establish Brown Radio and T.V. which he and his family operated for 40 years. P. J. was a member of the Marlin Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M., the Waco Karem Shrine, and First Baptist Church of Marlin. P. J. loved to fish, play the guitar, travel Texas, and was an accomplished amateur photographer. He was especially talented in electronics.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Hazel; daughter, Louise Hegefeld of Marlin; and brothers, Mabry Brown of Robinson, and Conrad Brown of Mart.
Survivors include his two sons, Gene Brown and wife, Nelda, of Marlin, and Larry Brown and wife, Mary Jane, of Lorena; grandchildren, Susan Paschal and husband, Kenneth, of Mart, Deanna Wahlgren and husband, David, of Leander, Jeffery Brown and wife, Amy, of Elgin, Randel Brown and wife, Rose, of Bastrop, and Barry Brown, Austin Brown and Collin Brown, all of Lorena; and great-grandchildren, Eric Robertson of Waco, and Wesley Brown of Bastrop.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Paschal, David Wahlgren, Jeffery Brown, Randel Brown, Barry Brown, Austin Brown, Collin Brown and Eric Robertson. Honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Brown, Lowell Brown and Jimmy Brown. Memorials may be made to the Shriners.
