Conrad William Brown
October 11, 1925 - June 20, 2010
Conrad William "C. W." Brown, 84, of Mart, passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at Littlepage Funeral Home in Mart with the Rev. Gary Kreder and the Rev. Nathan Booth officiating. Burial will follow at the Mart Cemetery.
On October 11, 1925, Conrad was born in Mustang Prairie, near Kosse, Texas, to the Rev. Porter and Bessie Brown. He was reared in Kosse, where he graduated from Kosse High School in 1942. Shortly after graduating from high school, Conrad went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. While working in Freeport, he met Venia Rae Gooden, whom he married October 9, 1943. In 1988, he retired from the railroad after 46 years. Conrad was a member of the Marlin chapter of the Masonic Lodge, and he served as the Mart Panther Club President in the early 1960s.
Conrad was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Mabry Brown of Robinson.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Venia Brown of Mart; two sons, Lowell James Brown and wife, Barbara, of Mart and Gary Lynn Brown and wife, Betty, of Chilton; daughter, Connie Rae Busby and husband, Roger, of Leander; brother, Porter James "P. J." Brown of Marlin; five grandchildren, Honey Holt and husband, Troy of Robinson, Jason Brown and wife, Judy, of China Spring, Hollee Muhl and husband, Kirk, of Lexington, Brooke Busby and Britton Busby, both of Leander; and ten great-grandchildren.
