Carol Sue Walts
October 16, 1944 - April 2, 2023

Carol Sue Walts, 78, of Mart Texas, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 2, 2023.  Carol’s life will
be celebrated with family and friends as she always wished.

Carol was born on October 16, 1944 in Mart, Texas to the late John Franklin and Lena Marie (Papendorf) Walts.  Carol grew up and attended school in Mart, Texas with her parents and 3 siblings.

Carol worked her whole life over multiple professions; she retired from Wal-Mart after 13 years in the Bakery.  Carol’s grandkids were her world; she was an amazing, hilarious, and loving Granny!  She was a party in herself; she loved daily coffee and margaritas on occasion.  Carol had many hobbies; she loved to read (Stephen King was her favorite!), work word puzzle books, complete jigsaw puzzles, listen to music (Blues, Honky Tonk, Country, Willie Nelson!); she loved watching Ghost Shows with her granddaughters (Discovery Channel!); she believed in the supernatural and sci-fi side of life; she also enjoyed cooking and baking with many family members.  Carol left her family with beloved one of a kind recipes.  She collected several things; wolves, dishes, Native American decor, numerous books by multiple authors, and movies.  Carol loved dogs, especially Chihuahua’s.  Carol spent a lot of time with her sister Betty Lou; going shopping, going out to eat, cooking, and trading many recipes, books, magazines, coupons, and puzzle books.  Carol was proud of her German/Native American heritage and was the backbone of her family.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband Sam Rhodes; sister Betty Lou (Walts) Freeman and brother in law Gerald Freeman.

Carol is survived by her son Johnny William Baggs; daughters Elizabeth Carol Sotello and Brandi Rae (Baggs) Blanchard and husband Donald Martin Blanchard; five grandsons: Devon Sotello, Jacob Dillon Baggs, Ebin Marshall Blanchard, Joshua Dalton Baggs, and Ethan Bradley Blanchard; four  granddaughters: Stacey Marie Brewer and husband Jack Brewer, Brianna Knudsen and husband, Kelsi Jo Baggs, and Marley Patience Blanchard; brother, James ‘Skipper’ Walts and wife Betty Jean Walts; and sister Linda Kay Kattner and husband Ken Kattner.  As well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
