Mary Alice Stone
August 02, 1920 - October 27, 2013
Mary Alice Stone, of Mart, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2013, in Waco. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 30, at the Kirk Cemetery.
On August 02, 1920, Mrs. Stone was born to Howard Edwin Flack and Stephanie Viola Duda Flack in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. She was reared and educated in Wisconsin, where she became certified as a court reporter. She met her husband, Vernon Edell Stone, when he was stationed in Wisconsin during WW II. Since the middle 1940s she had lived in the Kirk-Mart area. After graduating from the Hillcrest School of Nursing, she was employed as a nurse at Park Plaza Nursing Home in Mart until she was 78 years old. She loved working with her nursing home patients and was known for her kindness to them. Mrs. Stone was a devoted wife and mother and a friend to all.
Mrs. Stone was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon Edell Stone; and her brother, William Russell Flack.
Her survivors include her children, Vernon Stone Jr. and Hollie Rumsey of Hubbard-Okemah, Oklahoma, Mary Viola Case-Warschak and husband, Carroll, of Waco, Howard Stone of Mart, and Steven Stone of Los Angeles, California; eight grandchildren, Thomas Case and wife, Bridgette, Jason Stone and wife, Desieri, Crissa Stone and husband, Glenn, Sierra Sumsey Stone, Summer Rumsey, Lakin Rumsey, Chevy Rumsey, and Trisha Royder-Bell; eight great-grandchildren; and former daughter-in-law, Lyn Sullivan.
