George McClane Sr.
George McClane Sr., 90, of Marlin, formerly of Mart, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 26, 1998, at a Marlin hospital. He was laid to rest with graveside services on Saturday, Feb. 28, at Criswell Cemetery at Criswell, Texas. The Rev. Paul McClain, nephew of the deceased, officiated.
Mr. McClane was born to Lewis Daniel and Annie Kazar McClane on March 1, 1907, in Howard County, Arkansas. He married Bertha Estelle Simpson on Aug. 3, 1930, in Pike County, Arkansas. He was a farmer and a ranch hand most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers, one sister, one grandson and a daughter-in-law.
Surviving Mr. McClane is four sons, George McClane Jr. and his wife Pat, of Hewitt, William (Bill) McClane and his wife, Carol, of Peekskill, N.Y., Cleland (Mac) McClain and his wife, Barbara, of Dawson, and Leland (Rocky) McClain of Marlin; two sisters, Eula Mae Johnson of Delight, Arkansas and Nellie Turner of Hope, Arkansas; 20 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members.
“Take what you have and make the best of it and you will always come out on top”, this was his most often spoken words to his family.
He will be very much missed by all who knew him. He was a man with many friends and with lots of love. Now that “Pa” has gone to be with his other family members please let his family continue to love one another and carry on through life with all his wisdom.
