R. L. James
June 21, 1921 - October 25, 2010
R. L. James, 89, of Waco, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010, at a local hospital with his family by his side. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, October 30, at Grace Gardens Funeral Home Chapel.
R. L. was born June 21, 1921, in Odds, Texas. He served as a MP in the US Army during WW II. He worked at Hammond Industries during the 1950's and 60's as a line supervisor. He was a butcher at West and A&P Supermarkets in Bellmead. R. L. was a man that was kind to animals and loved his little dog "DJ". He was an avid gardener and enjoyed dancing at the Sul Ross Senior Center. R. L. and Leona Helen (Bobbie) were married for almost 64 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Daniel James and Elise Wolf James; three brothers, Hershel, Dillard, and C. B.; and two sisters, Viola and Lyda.
R. L is survived by his wife, Leona Helen; one daughter, Adelia Williams; and R. L. and Bobbie, also considered Kay Fox Campbell, Dennis and Kenny Holder and Kevin Williams as their children. He was loved by several nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude and thanks to Providence Hospice and the nurses on the Sunday night shift.
