Mrs. Holden’s Service Today

MARLIN  (SPL) - Mrs. Richard (Verda Mae) Holden, 78, of Marlin died Sunday morning in a Fort Worth hospital.

Services will be 2 p.m. today in the Adams Funeral Chapel in Marlin, Rev. P. J. Brown Sr. officiating.  Burial will be in the Criswell Cemetery.

Mrs. Holden was born June 18, 1897 in Limestone County.  She married Richard Ellis Holden Sr. on Nov. 17, 1912, at Elm Ridge.  The couple lived and farmed in the Odds community most of their married life.  They moved to Marlin in 1967.

Mr. Holden died July 10, 1972. Mrs. Holden had made her home with a daughter in Fort Worth during the past year.  She was a Baptist.

Survivors include two sons, Coy Holden of Waco and Rev. Ellis Holden Jr. of Graham; four daughters, Mrs. Aline Redwine, Mrs. Bessie Mae Frazier, Mrs. Lessie Fay Vincent and Mrs. Edna Eastwood, all of Fort Worth; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.


(Mrs. Holden was preceded in death by her sons Ellis G. Holden and Dewayne E. Holden.)
