Mary Louise Teal Downes
March 28, 1931 - October 15, 2010
Mary Louise Teal Downes, 79, of Marlin, entered into rest Friday, October 15, 2010. Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Ward Street Church of Christ with Minister Allan Ritchie officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Downes was born March 28, 1931, in Marlin, Texas, to James Beverly and Lillian Estelle McAllister Teal. She was a long time resident of Marlin, a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. Mary loved gardening, both flower and vegetable and sewing. She had a lovely alto singing voice and enjoyed the songs of the church. Her greatest joy in life was caring for and loving her grandbabies. She married Frank Downes, August 21, 1948, in Waco, Texas, and they recently celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary.
Survivors include her husband, Frank Downes of Marlin; daughters, Sharon Lee and husband, Douglas, of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Deborah Nauert and husband, Clark, of Waco, Brenda Pippin and husband, John, of Waco, Doretha Burnett of Bremond, and Jennifer Bridges and husband, Marcus, of Marlin; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Marcus Bridges, Larry Fischer, Clark Nauert, Johnny Pippin, Philip Pippin and Shane Burnett. Honorary Pallbearers will be Douglas Lee and John Pippin. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital .
