Donald Leroy Walts
December 27, 1965 - August 2, 2023
Donald Leroy Walts, who was known to most as Peanut, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the young age of 57.
Peanut was born to Karen Glennell Abbott Walts and Don Henley Walts on December 27, 1965, in McLennan County. He grew up around the Bosqueville and China Spring area. He attended China Spring ISD from kindergarten to high school where he graduated in 1984. After high school, he went on to further his education at McLennan Community College where he became a certified EMS personnel. He also attended Texas A&M University where he participated in their fire training courses. Following his graduation, he resided in Valley Mills for many years where he worked as a paramedic and with the Valley Mills Volunteer Fire Department. Years later he moved to Rock Creek to care for his mother, Karen, where he had lived for the past few years. A couple years ago he attended the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired where he graduated from in 2019.
Peanut had numerous jobs throughout his life. His very first job was with the Borden Milk Company in the Ice Cream Department. He went on to work for Precise Hard Chrome for a handful of years before eventually moving on to Central Texas Corrugated where he retired from a few years back.
Peanut also had many hobbies throughout his time with us. He enjoyed cooking every chance he got, especially on the barbeque pit - pulled pork was one of his favorites. He loved to attend dirt track races and you could often find him at the Heart of Texas Speedway on Friday nights. He spent countless days all throughout his life hunting for deer and hogs with his dad, brother, and sons. He also loved to fish, whether it be on the bank or in a boat; he just wanted to be present and relax in nature. His favorite thing of all was spending time with his family; most importantly, with his two sons Lance and Jesse. His boys were everything to him.
Donald was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert Seak and Ola Fay Walts, Leroy and Ruth Webster, father, Don Henley Walts, uncle, John Walts, uncle and aunt, Robert Gaylon and Peggy Walts, aunt and uncle, Ester and Paul Berry, aunt and uncle Vanessa and John Hartig, aunt, Cheryl Webster, and niece, Kim Berry.
