Peggy L. Walts
May 17, 1940 - March 27, 2013
Peggy L. (Garrett) Walts, 72, of Waco, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, with her family by her side. A graveside service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 30, at Criswell Cemetery in Falls County with the Rev. James Stevens officiating. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 29, at Lake Shore Funeral Home, 5201 Steinbeck Bend in Waco.
Peggy was born May 17, 1940, to Willie and Lois Garrett in McLennan County. She married Robert Gaylon Walts on Aug. 2, 1957, in Groesbeck. She attended and graduated from China Spring High School in 1958 and was active in basketball, cheerleading, homemaking and was also Valedictorian of her graduating class. Peggy was a Baptist. She was last employed at Waco Center for Youth, retiring May 31, 2000.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers; and one great-granddaughter.
Survivors include sons, Robert Walts and wife, Teresa, of Rock Creek, Jimmy Walts and wife, Kim, of Speegleville, Ronnie Walts and wife, Robin, of Speegleville, and John Walts and wife, Michele, of Bosqueville; daughters, Debbie Randant and husband, Russell, of China Spring, and Fay Robinson and husband, Jeff, of Sulphur Springs; sister, Betty Veselka and husband, Jimmy, of Morgan's Point; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Robert Walts, Jimmy Walts, Ronnie Walts, John Walts, Benny Garrett and James "Bubba" McNeely. Honorary pallbearers will be Peggy's grandsons.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Lake Shore Village Nursing Home and Hillcrest Hospital for all their care and kindness.
The family requests memorials be made to Criswell Cemetery Association, c/o Joyce Stone, 115 S. Goddard St., Mart, Texas, 76664; Volunteer Services Council for Waco Center for Youth, 3501 N. 19th St., Waco, Texas, 76708; or to a charity of one's choice .
