Tehuacana Waters Mount Above Bridge Uprights
Cars Were Towed Across Sunday By Highway Department Truck
Waters of Tehuacana creek mounted above uprights of the bridge on State highway No. 6 south of Waco as the result of heavy weekend rains.
With the bridge inundated by 2:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon, the highway department provided a truck and crew to tow automobiles across.
Along late in the afternoon, in some cases, water was reported to have run in cars being taken across the bridge.
Highway Bridge Floated Back By Highway Crew
Dump Along Sap Highway in Falls County Eaten Out By High Waters.
Carried downstream several hundred feet by Big Creek waters May 10 a small bridge just south of Big Creek on state highway No. 6 was floated back and put in position, making it impossible to re-open this road to traffic Saturday afternoon.
Headed by Sparks McKay, Falls County state highway maintenance supervisor, a crew in boats did the work while the water was still up, the bridge being cut loose from iron on it so it could be towed back.
The road was found to be badly cut up on each side, a good deal of gravel being gone. The state highway crew expected to begin at once to re-gravel the road on both ends.
About 100 yards of the dump on the Sap highway in the North Prairie section was eaten out by high waters. Similar trouble was reported at Deer creek and at Pond creek south of Rosebud. Damage to Cow Bayou bridge was repaired sufficiently to let lighter vehicles across.
Big creek began rising again Sunday afternoon as a result of rains
