Criswell School Burns
Classes Had Ended for Day; Blaze
Blamed on Stove.
MARLIN, Jan. 28. -- Fire,
assumed to have originated from a
stove or flue, destroyed the Criswell
schoolhouse, near the Falls -
Limestone county line, about 4:30
o’clock Thursday afternoon after
classes had been ended for the day
and the teachers and students had
gone home.
Building and furnishings and a
quantity of school books were a
total loss. The structure was of
an exceptionally good rural school
type, having been rebuilt a few
years ago. Insurance of $2000 was
carried on the house and equipment.
