Winford Daniel "Dan" Herring, 78, went home to be with his Lord September 17, 2016 in Groesbeck.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 21, at Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Marlin. Burial will follow in Criswell Cemetery in Mart. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 20, at Adams Funeral Home.
Winford was born in Marlin, Texas, June 4, 1938 to Daniel Sewell Herring and Natalie Alberta Griffith. He served as a military policeman and cook for the Army for several years. He also was in a band in the Army and continued his love of music until he passed. Winford worked in Odessa for many years as a welder and house painter. He served the Lord and was a longtime church member. He had a love for fishing and horses but his kids and grandkids were his heart.
Winford was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Sue Herring; daughter, Debbie Kay Savage; siblings, Joann Lanier and Carl Ellis Herring.
Survivors include his sons, Tim Daniel Herring and wife Melody and Ricky Dale Herring and wife Cassie; daughter, Melisa Ann Hodges; grandkids, Tyrel Herring and wife Allison, Zachary Herring, Justin Herring and wife Ashley, Kallie Ybarra and husband Chris, Kristen Herring, Kayla McIntosh, and Jessica Savage. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Wayne Lanier; sisters, Frances Runnels, Rosie Tigue and Sheila Lundgren and several great-grandkids, nieces, nephews and friends. Arrangements under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Marlin, TX.
