Criswell Cemetery Association
The forty-third Criswell Memorial/Homecoming was held on June 12, 1994 at the Criswell Schoolhouse.
The weather was warm with cloud cover and a south breeze.
Gary Smith, son of Travis and Maxine Smith and grandson of the late Charles C. and Shirley Stone, was song leader. Eddie Lynn Hill, son of Gilynn Bacy and grandson of Mrs. Mildred Climer and the late Gile B. Stone, gave the message of God. Several songs were sung and prayers were held. Communion was also held.
At the afternoon meeting, G. Z. “Peaches” Stone, president, thanked everyone that had helped on workday. The library, cloak room and hallways were spray painted and vegetation was cleared from the fence. He also thanked Shirley Caddell for her many years of service as secretary to the association since she is resigning. Nelda Brown was elected as the new secretary. Peaches asked for nominations to fill the three outgoing director positions of G. Z. Stone, Betty Crawford and Timothy Weathers. Kevin Stone, Jerri Lou Almy, John Semosh, Ronald C. Stone and Tom Criswell Jr. were nominated. Kevin Stone, Jerri Lou Almy and Ronald C. Stone were elected. Peaches announced that J. E. Ray, business manager, was relieved of that position since one was no longer needed. The president of the association will act in that capacity.
Gary Smith read the mortuary list.
Joyce Stone gave the business report.
Gary Smith was elected president for the coming year. It was suggested that a P.A. system be obtained for next year’s services and meeting. Ronald C. Stone suggested that the Criswell Cemetery Association Rules be reviewed and updated.
