Minutes of Forty-First Annual Criswell Memorial Service
The forty-first annual Criswell Cemetery Memorial Service was held on Sunday, June 14, 1992.
There was a cool breeze blowing. The cemetery and grounds were manicured and abundant with flowers.
Thomas Criswell, president, opened the business session at 10:30 a.m. with a hymn, followed by prayer. Minutes of previous meetings held since last memorial service were read and approved. Joyce Stone gave the treasurer’s report. The nominating committee of Opal Boone, Jean Mitchell and Milton Albright submitted names of Neil Bower, Billy Stone and Barbara White for new directors. A historical marker for the cemetery was discussed and Polly Tate will look into this project. Thomas mentioned painting inside of building, no action was taken.
Mortuary list was read by Jean Mitchell with the following names: Young Sanders, Gaylon Walts,
W. N. (Doodlebug) Stone, Louie Wolf, Delmer Bryant, G. B. Ferguson,
C. B. James, Johnny Dunn, R. N. Hancock and Alice Easter. Aaron Watson, grandson
of Joyce Stone, sang “Amazing Grace.”
The message brought by Rev. Hugh Durham of Carrollton, on past and present values, was well received. The morning session was closed with grace for noon meal.
At the afternoon meeting, the following directors for 1992 - 1995 were voted on: Neil Bower, B. A. Stone, Barbara White, J. E. Ray and John Walts. The three elected were: B. A. Stone, John Walts and J. E. Ray. They discussed writing up specifications for bids on painting. Election of officers followed: G. Z. “Peaches” Stone, president; B. A. Stone, vice-president; Shirley Caddell, secretary; Joyce Stone, treasurer.
