Thirty-Sixth Annual Memorial Service
The thirty-sixth annual Criswell Memorial Service was held on June 14, 1987.
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given. President Oscar Grisham mentioned the need for new tables and discussion of what type would be best. He also stated that it would be good to keep the building fund active for this purpose. Thomas Criswell suggested each family enter memorials in the memorial book. Also, a historical marker would cost $500.00. The three new directors are Phillip Weathers, George Stone and Johnny Etheridge.
The program was opened by singing a hymn. Prayer by Thomas Criswell. Special music by Pam Brown, Jane Duvall and JoAnn Stone. The mortuary list was read. The guest speaker was Maybelle Barton Roberts of Marlin. Mrs. Roberts grew up in the McClanahan community and is a retired teacher. She spoke on “We Live in the Greatest Nation and Some Problems of the World.” A prayer for the noon meal was given and the meeting adjourned.
