Thirty-Second Annual Memorial Service
The thirty-second annual Criswell Cemetery Association meeting was held on Sunday, June 12, 1983.
The meeting was opened by George Stone, president. He commented on the newly formed building fund for the purpose of repairing the building. Also, the past week the back fence of the cemetery was cleared of brush and chemicals applied.
The meeting was turned over to the master of ceremonies, Roy Norman, who led several songs. Jewel Rucker read the mortuary list. Those deceased were Wanda Criswell, Marshall Stone, Murray Ray, Deward Bower and Claude Downes.
Special music was sung by Roy Norman. The speaker was Brother Wilson Wood of Dallas. He was raised in the Ben Hur community. His topic “My Cup Runneth Over” was very inspirational. The prayer of thanks was given by Roy Norman and the meeting was dismissed for the noon meal.
The directors had a short meeting in the afternoon. The three new directors elected for 1983 to 1986 were Michael Caddell, Jack Stone and W. D. Youngblood. George Stone was elected as president. Joyce Stone was appointed treasurer and Maxine Smith volunteered to be the program chairman.
